"LIBERTY: AT WHAT PRICE"
Poem by Joda Khan

Liberty cannot be given
no man can hold it in his hand
nor can politicians bestow it
it grows in the heart of a man
no bills can be passed to allow it
to deny it is a mortal sin
life is not a game we play
nor liberty a prize you win
if but one soul must live without it
then it exists for none
liberty cannot be negotiated
by tyrants at the point of a gun
liberty placed on the scales of freedom
would outweigh the wealth of the land
skyscrapers would fall
and cities would tumble
only kingdoms erected in sand
beware ye believers in the eagle
whilst you continue to prey on the dove
stacking your vaults with bloodstained gold
robbing the world of love
Miss liberty cannot move forward
with her foot on another's neck
toasting her good fortune
with the wine of Christ
while starving babies die of neglect
so raise your torch and drink to freedom
we're having the time of our lives
but beware of retribution
there must be liberty but at what price
