"The Other"
Poem By Joda Khan

Come on down!
you who held life so near to you
loosen your tie
and open your collar
come on down
check your soul at the gate
cuz it ceased to be important to you
ages ago
you always did look good in red
it somehow brought out the lust in your eyes
the green valleys of Paradise
never really suited your taste
your feet were more inclined to wander
toward that other place
six days till Sunday
six figures in the till
and the final six fell
with your last spin of the wheel
come on down!
or in fact if truth be told
I should actually invite you in
back to the site of the original garden
your inquisitive mind
the original sin
you met me there in the darkness
while you were hiding from the light
a comfortable shade to examine your nakedness
touching places and fondling desires
that goodness does not allow
and in that moment of indecision
we first met
in the crystal clear mirror of thought
our faces were the same
we spoke in hushed whispers
of the forbidden fruit
we were a single coin
tossed into the void of free will
tumbling end over end for an eternity
and what of good and evil
your face or mine
and should the coin drop
in conclusion of this life
will good simply carry on alone
or shall there be a price to pay
for the road you called your own
come on down!
